Celtics Make Last Second Deal at Deadline

Out of nowhere, the Boston Celtics unloaded center Kendrick Perkins and bench spark Nate Robinson to the OKC Thunder in exchange for big man Nenad Krstic and Jeff Green:

The move gives the Thunder legitimate size as they push the Western Conference’s elite. Perkins has recovered from a devastating knee injury suffered in the NBA Finals, and is an elite defensive center. The Celtics had not been able to agree on a long-term contract extension with him, so they decided to move him instead. The Celtics, meanwhile, acquire a wing player that they have been coveting for a while, plus a Perkins replacement in Krstic…
My initial reaction was WTF! Are you serious? I literally heard 0 murmurs about any Celtics trades involving these guys, but I guess this was a work in progress all along. I’m not sure how I feel. Ironically, Green was drafted by the C’s and was a part of that draft day trade for acquiring Ray Allen. He’s a small forward who can score quickly on his own, which is something that has been missing off the bench for Boton (no offense Marquis Daniels). However, they gave away two crucial pieces of last year’s team, who when healthy, gave good contributions in big games. Time will tell on this one…
