The Era of the Pitcher

That’s it. I’ve had enough of this “Year of the Pitcher” talk spreading into two years. With Justin Verlander’s no-no today, the second no-hitter thrown this week in the majors, I hereby declare that we are in The Era of the Pitcher. An Era where we see two perfect games in the same month (May 9, 2010 – Dallas Braden; May 29, 2010 – Roy Halladay). An Era that has seen eight (8) no-hitters (nine if you consider Galarraga’s almost perfecto). The 2006 season through the 2009 season saw eight no-hitters.

The Era will continue. And within this Era, we will still see great hitting. But we will see even better pitching.

Play Ball.
