After saying that being on the bag for Adam Scott’s WGC win
was “the best win of his life,” Tiger’s ex-friend and caddie Stevie Williams is changing his tone a bit:
In the aftermath of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, Williams’ comments were picked apart and widely criticized, but Scott has kept relatively quiet. On Tuesday, he spoke up, coming to the defense of his new, and Tiger Woods’ former, caddie. Scott played down Williams’ comments at a press conference ahead of the PGA Championship, calling the reaction to them overblown…Scott added, “I certainly don’t think that was his intention to steal my moment at all. But you know, he was asked these questions and he gave his honest answer I assume, and with a lot of things to do with anything related to Tiger Woods, it’s all scrutinized and blown out of proportion a lot of the time…(Williams apologized) calling them over-the-top on Tuesday.
That sounds a bit more like it…after all, he did get 13 majors and a bundle full of wins with Tiger, so he can’t rub it in too hard. That guy set Steve Williams for life financially.
