Watch the game on… Facebook?

For the first time, and most likely not the last, Facebook will air, live, a sporting event. A FA Cup qualifying game between the Ascot United and Wembley will be shown on the social networking site we all love to hate.

This is a logical course of action for both Facebook and the FA Cup. Putting some soccer, the world’s most popular sport, onto Facebook, the world’s most popular social networking site, just makes sense. And with the increase of the use of social media during sporting events (Twitter anyone?) just makes this a perfect marriage. Time will tell, however, if this will actually work.

Will you be watching the game on Facebook? Will you watch any sporting event on Facebook or any other social networking site?

This was first spotted over on NBC Sports.
