Rickie Fowler’s Welcome to Stardom
After 72 starts, the colorful bro Rickie Fowler entered the winner’s circle in grand fashion for the first time in his PGA Tour career. The 23-year-old Fowler ousted #1 ranked Rory McIlroy (22 years young) and D.A. points with a phenomenal wedge to 5 feet, setting up the winning birdie putt and fist pump to follow. The obligatory smoking hot girlfriend celebrates with him on the green, this time it’s Rickie’s girl Alexandra Browne.
Rickie’s win was another first time winner in this up and down 2012 season, and now ANOTHER name to throw into the list of PGA Tour young guns on the rise…fast. What was already undeniable was Rickie’s popularity, from his all orange sundays as an ode to his OK State Cowboys, to his motocross background and rock star mustache.
The PUMA-endorsed Fowler is part of the under 25 crop set to dominate PGA Tour winning circles that includes Bud Cauley, John Huh, Rory McIlroy, Harris English, Patrick Cantlay and a few others. He plays fearlessly, just like a motocross race, and enjoys the perks of being a young star in golf. Also of note: 3 of the 4 “Golf Boys” have won on Tour this year, including a major from the overall-dawning Bubba Watson. So I guess it’s the helmet-touting Ben Crane’s turn to win right? Cue the music!
